When I was originally looking for a property in Muskoka, I stumbled across Joanne Hoskins’ awesome website. That’s actually what drew me in to working with her. I thought – if someone put this much work into building a search engine for Muskoka properties, they must be really good at finding perfect cottages.
I called Joanne up and asked to work with her. She immediately took down my criteria and her website automatically sent me relevant listings whenever they came up.
Meanwhile, I would scour the net for other listings and ask for her opinion. I’d send Joanne listings for beautiful cottages and she always came back with useful information – that something was on a murky lake, or that it was near loud train tracks, facing away from the sun, etc.
When I finally found the property I wanted, she made herself available to go for showings ASAP. She gave me comparables when I went to put in an offer, and introduced me to a very astute home inspector. Joanne guided me through the transaction as if I were family.
She quickly answered all my questions. And, for a first-time homebuyer, during a 90-day closing, there were many of those. When she couldn’t get answers, she went so far as to visit places in town to get answers for me first-hand: such as the post-office and the neighbour’s house. She helped me figure out which service providers I needed, and gave me lots of advice on what to do and where to shop in Muskoka.
As the deal progressed, she went to visit the property on my behalf and discovered that all the appliances were missing. She made contact with the seller’s agent and ensured that all appliances were brought back before move-in day. There were hiccups, but she helped me with everything. I was in good hands.
And at the end of it all, she delivered a stunning and very essential gift after I moved in to my new place.

“Our home search was different than many others, not only were we looking for a new home, but also a new life.
We had lived in Hamilton our whole lives, and decided we wanted to make a change and move to Muskoka…. so we sold our home in Hamilton and started our search.
